Polyline cartoon characters.

Today we have been learning to create characters with a polyline tool. Some of us traced around a character and some of us created an original drawing. We have included the images on a slide deck with a few tips and tricks that might be helpful. Please enjoy Room 4

Reflection week 9 DFI

 Time to reflect and share

  • What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

There are many opportunities to stay connected with other educators and continue the digital fluency learning journey. Support and guidance is ongoing.

  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

Ongoing use and learning of the google products that I didn't use often has mean't that I am aware of ways to use them more effectively as tools.

  • What did I learn that could be used with my learners?

I think I can share with my learners the ways to use the google tools more effectively, different google tools to teach/showcase content and to also do some fun activities to demonstrate their learning in different curriculum areas.

Reflection DFI week 8

 Time to reflect and share

  • What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

agency = empowered. Manaiakalani aim to put students in the driving seat for their learning. Students can access learning anywhere, anytime and take advantage of multimodal learning opportunities. They can access this learning as often as they need for additional support.

  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

An introduction to coding which I know the students will love.

  • What did I learn that could be used with my learners?

We completed an exercise on scratch that the students could use to learn the basics of coding. Within the day I also had the opportunity to look further into 'CoSpaces' and learn a little bit about how to code in this space. I think CoSpaces would be very engaging for my learners.

The greatest joy comes from Empowering students to... believe in themselves.

DFI Reflection Week 7

Reflecting on the Kaupapa of the Manaiakalani Programme in light of COVID 19

  • What are you proud of?

    • I am proud that I am continually learning and applying new ways to teach and engage my learners.

    What do you regret?

    • Not so much regret as get frustrated when technology doesn't work the way you want it to, either with user error or device error.

What have you taken forward into the ‘new’ era of schooling?

    • Rewindable learning might just be my new catch phrase. I can see that during online learning such as in lockdown, this does make learning more available to all students at all times. But also it would be a valuable resource the students can independently access in class to support their learning.
What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaialakani kaupapa and pedagogy?
    • Ubiquitous learning is being able to access learning any place, any time. Students able to access their learning on their terms.
    • Cybersmart learning and checkin should happen regularly, at the beginning of each year is a good time to refresh student learning.
    • Cyber smart students use positive, powerful and proactive language.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence or workflow as a professional?
    • Today we learnt to use whiteboard and Håpara workspace. I will need to keep practicing with workspace but white board was pretty straightforward.
