Kia ora e te whānau,
Wow, a full on day today but lots of time to create which was good. I tried my hand at animation in google slides, turning my photo into a cartoon in google draw and also in google draw creating an information page where I have introduced myself with my pepeha.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
I like to play around with new digital skills myself before I introduce it to the students so I have managed to make that start today with some new learning. I will however like to take a gentler pace to explore it in more depth and the real learning for me is in the exploring/creating. That is where you discover you have missed a part in the puzzle and may need to go over it again.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
I really love the creativity of the digital tools we use and I really do think we have to keep making it fresh and interesting in class. However, in my life outside of school I will be device free as much as possible. I am highly likely to not even carry my phone!
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
I think my students would love to create self portraits and this could be a great activity at the beginning of the year. Also I know they would love to create animations and cartoons to show their understanding and express themselves.
Until next week
Ngā mihi
Kim
Kia ora ano Kim,
ReplyDeleteAny chance we could get a sneak preview at your create tasks? I am intrigued about turning your photo into a cartoon. Did you use the polyline tool? This is something I would like to do with my students in our Cybersmart sessions, but haven't had a chance to have a play myself yet. I empathise with your comment about playing around yourself first before introducing it to your students... me too! Nā, M
Hey Meryn,
DeleteMy create task was posted on my blog just before my reflection. I used slides to create an animation. Is this the task you are referring to?
Thanks
Kim
I think I was referring to turning your photo into a cartoon. But I missed your animation so I'm going to go back and look for that!
