DFI Reflection Week 7
Reflecting on the Kaupapa of the Manaiakalani Programme in light of COVID 19
What are you proud of?
I am proud that I am continually learning and applying new ways to teach and engage my learners.
What do you regret?
- Not so much regret as get frustrated when technology doesn't work the way you want it to, either with user error or device error.
What have you taken forward into the ‘new’ era of schooling?
- Rewindable learning might just be my new catch phrase. I can see that during online learning such as in lockdown, this does make learning more available to all students at all times. But also it would be a valuable resource the students can independently access in class to support their learning.
- Ubiquitous learning is being able to access learning any place, any time. Students able to access their learning on their terms.
- Cybersmart learning and checkin should happen regularly, at the beginning of each year is a good time to refresh student learning.
- Cyber smart students use positive, powerful and proactive language.
- Today we learnt to use whiteboard and Håpara workspace. I will need to keep practicing with workspace but white board was pretty straightforward.

DFI Reflection week 4
Tena Koutou Katoa,
Another busy day of learning. Today I certainly feel like I have been introduced to a few things that will help reduce the amount of time I spend analysing data. This makes me very happy but like anything I need to use it regularly or I will forget how to use it. The google forms and sheets are tools I think I will use a lot.
What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Sharing as a final step in the learning but also sharing along the way in the process of learning is a fundamental aspect of the Manaiakalani kaupapa. Sharing by students and teachers alike strengthens all of our skill sets.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
I think I will definitely use google forms to create assessment tools. The reduction in time
for marking is really awesome. In addition, the google sheets has lots of features that I can
see myself use it regularly to record student data and be able to view and manipulate the
filters so viewing is really easy.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
My students have already used google forms for various information gathering purposes
and they love that in regards to how easy it is to set up, share and evaluate data.
My maps has a lot of features that would be great to explore in more depth before
introducing them to my class.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
I love the time saving features for me with the introduction of using google sheets and
google forms.currently I am creating my own colour coded table to view student
assessments and although this is great to quickly view students data on it is time
consuming to set up.
Ngā mihi
